ANGUILLA--August Monday is the highlight of the Summer Festival for many people. This year it is on Monday, August 6 and starts with J’ouvert from The Valley to Sandy Ground. Hundreds of revellers follow the bands to Sandy Ground where they arrive about 11:00am. A stage is already in place at the northern end of the beach where the performances will take place starting at noon.
There will be several artistes from Trinidad and Tobago including Destra, well-known Queen of Soca, and vocalists Alves and Nadia. REC (Red Eye Crew), a well-known soca group from St. Maarten will be performing as well as Kenyo Baly and Oswald from St. Martin.
Three bands from Anguilla will be there – Infusion XL, Exodus HD and Synergy. Deejays throughout the day will keep the music playing. These include host DJ Jam, Bookie Don, DJ Bonkers from St. Martin, and from Anguilla Jeanie, Sproka, and Yooshe.
A food court will be located near the stage area and there will be food and drink booths all along the beach. One of the highlights of the day will be the boat races with A Class and B Class races taking place, starting about 1:00pm.
