Body discovered on Baie Nettle Beach

MARIGOT--The Gendarmerie was called out to two dramas on Sunday morning. The first was the discovery of a lifeless body on Baie Nettle Beach.

A cordon of tape was put around the discovery area to allow forensic technicians to do their work. The Gendarmerie indicated for the moment that the cause of death had not been determined. The Prosecutor authorised the Gendarmerie to open an investigation.

At the end of Sunday morning the Gendarmerie was summoned to Le Galion Beach and the suspected drowning of a young boy. The boy’s family had raised the alarm when the boy did not return from swimming.

His body was taken out of the water by passers-by and first aid given to try to revive him before emergency services arrived. Sadly, a doctor declared the boy had died.

Preliminary indications suggest accidental drowning, the Gendarmerie noted. An investigation has also been opened into this incident.
