PHILIPSBURG--The Anti-corruption Taskforce (TBO) of the Kingdom Detectives Cooperation Team (RST) are conducting searches since early in the morning of Tuesday and arrested casino boss Francesco Corallo (56), born in Italy as part of an international action between the Netherlands, Italy and St. Maarten/St. Martin.
He was arrested along with Atlantis Group CFO Rudolph Baetsen (50), born in the Netherlands on the orders of authorities in Italy. The searches took place at residences and an office building, led by an investigative judge. Another suspect was arrested on the French side where searches will also be taking place led by a French investigative judge.
No more details were released by the Prosecutor’s Office of St. Maarten about the arrests as they intend to release more information at a later stage of the investigation.
