A connection with God or a belief in a higher power is very much held onto by the people of St. Maarten and of the wider Caribbean.
Many churches and other places of worship have closed their doors to worshipers due to social-distancing regulations and curfews. Access to places of worship is barred widely, perhaps for the first time in recent history. This is where technology has stepped in to fill the void between people and their chosen Word. The use of online forums such as Facebook Live and Zoom has increased significantly in St. Maarten. One of the many churches making use of this forum to share the Word of God and raise voices in praise is the Philipsburg Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
