Curfew now from midnight

PHILIPSBURG--Residents on both sides of the island have a new curfew time get off the roads. As of today, Monday, the curfew is from midnight to 5:00am. The new curfew hours remain in effect until further notice.

The two governments decided on Monday to adjust the curfew to the new scaled-back time. The old curfew time was from 9:00pm to 6:00am.
Residents are requested by both governments to respect the new curfew hours. The law enforcement authorities will conduct patrols in all areas.
Maintenance of the curfew will aid in the clean-up efforts and enhance public order and safety for businesses and residents, the authorities said.
The country has been under a curfew since September 5 prior to the passing of monster Hurricane Irma. A 24-hour curfew remained for several days and has been gradually scaled back to the current start time of midnight.
