WILLEMSTAD--Marilyn Alcalá-Wallé wants to know who filed the complaint that forced her to step down as Curaçao’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports pending the related investigation. According to the now former PAR-minister, this all amounts to a political game.
Alcalá-Wallé had to resign because she is suspected of having violated the screening law for cabinet members. It regards a potential conflict of interest situation with a foundation the minister remained part of after taking office.
The Prosecutor’s Office is not making any further announcements pending the probe and did not say who was the one that filed the relevant complaint in October. However, Charles Cooper, Member of Parliament (MP) for opposition party MFK, had asked questions about the integrity of the minister last September.
