French-, Dutch-side Customs sign MOU

PHILIPSBURG--Caretaker Justice Minister Cornelius de Weever recently announced that a memorandum of understanding (MOU) had been signed between the French-side and Dutch-side Customs Departments regarding an administrative arrangement to share information.

The document was signed by Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands Customs Department Regional Director Philippe Richard and St. Maarten Customs Acting Head Franklin Bernadina on September 10.

The aim of the administrative agreement is to facilitate the sharing of information on goods entering and leaving the island’s ports, said De Weever. “It is one island, so working together makes a whole lot of sense,” he added.
