Govt. awaiting approval of Cadastre board members

PHILIPSBURG--Names for the restructured supervisory board and management posts at the Cadastre and Land Mortgage Registry are with the Corporate Governance Council for screening. The Council has some six weeks to render a decision on the names and is aware that the Registry is in need of these vital representatives.

Independent Member of Parliament (MP) Maurice Lake said in a press statement Monday the restructuring of the Registry is “a high priority” for Government. “I foresee the Corporate Governance Council rendering their advice to Government very soon based on the urgency of the situation,” he said.

“I believe in following a process in a legal way but with a time frame based on the urgency of filling these positions. You can see the same lengthy process and following the right procedures the Minister has to follow right now with restructuring of our electricity company NV GEBE,” Lake continued.

Lake said he also took note of the public letter about the operations of the Registry from One St. Maarten People Party (OSPP) Lenny Priest.
