Hazard to animals

The Nature Foundation St. Maarten once more pointed out the danger of single-use plastics in the environment and nature. On several occasions in the past weeks, the Nature Foundation witnessed birds eating single-use plastics, mistaking them for food. This pattern happens to many birds, marine-life species and numerous other species on the island, mainly because of the large amount of single-use plastics strewn about. The Nature Foundation supports the need to ban single-use plastics for St. Maarten and encourages businesses and residents to reduce single-use plastics and use reusable and biodegradable alternatives instead.
