House of Assembly to discuss constitutional, electoral reform

 

 ANGUILLA--At the House of Assembly meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, parliamentarians are to review the report from the Constitutional and Electoral Reform Committee with proposals for reform. They will also be hearing the Anguilla Community College Financial Statements for 2019. The first reading of a Bill for Anguillian Status Act 2019 will also be heard.

  Leader of the Opposition Palmavon Webster is to ask several questions. Her first is in regard to salaries within the Royal Anguilla Police Force and is directed to Deputy Governor Perin Bradley. She is questioning the rationale for the recently announced adjustments in salaries. Her second question is to Premier Victor Banks and she will ask about the delay in the construction of the Community College.

  Webster will ask Minister of Health, Niel Rogers whether the neurotoxin believed to have caused illness to US and Canadian diplomats in Cuba is an ingredient of the fogging mixture used in Anguilla. Her question to Curtis Richardson, Minister of Infrastructure is in regard to the cost of the expansion of the Clayton J. Lloyd Airport and what the current timeline is for the commencement of work. She will also ask him the names of the persons on the Transportation Board and what the purpose and role are of this newly established board.

  Constitutional and electoral reform questions are also to be directed to the Attorney General and to Minister of Home Affairs, Cora Richardson-Hodge.
