Insel makes emergency landing in Dom Republic

WILLEMSTAD--Insel Air flight 7i 533 from St. Maarten to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, made an emergency landing in the Dominican Republic recently after the pilots received a fire alarm from the left engine.

The pilots immediately executed the necessary and specific procedure(s) for such cases and the aircraft (MD80) landed safely in the Dominican Republic on one engine, Insel Air said in a press release on Sunday.

The airline’s technical team immediately began an investigation into the cause of the fire alarm. All passengers have been accommodated in the Dominican Republic and InselAir expects to transport all passengers as soon as possible to their final destination, the airline said.
