PHILIPSBURG--Halloween will get a little scarier for youngsters who resort to the dangerous, yet popular prank of egg throwing. Police have issued a stern warning that egg throwers will end up splat in jail, face fines and other penalties when caught.
Egg throwing has, unfortunately, become a Halloween pastime for some youngsters much to the chagrin of bus drivers and residents.
This year, Police are taking a firmer stance against pranksters. A fine ranging from NAf. 150 to 500 will be levied against egg throwers. Culprits will also end up frying further, because they will be slapped with paying for any damaged caused to property due to egg throwing, in addition to the levied fine.
Culprits will be arrested and carted to the Police Station and booked under the regular procedure for criminals, the Police announced on Sunday.
The Police Department and Prosecutor’s Office have contacted all secondary schools to inform them of the anti-egg-throwing campaign. Schools were advised by authorities to inform students about the campaign. Parents are also urged to have a very serious talk with their children about this very serious issue.
