Man flees casino after robbery fails

CUPECOY--A young man fled from Starz Casino on Saturday evening, after his attempted armed robbery of the casino failed. The Special Robbery Unit of the Police Department is still actively looking for the suspect.

Witnesses told police that a young man with a handgun threatened two employees and demanded money from them. When he realized his attempt was unsuccessful, he fled the scene.

Police officers were immediately dispatched to the casino after the attempted robbery was reported. A search of the area was carried out, but the suspect was not located.

Meanwhile, a suspect has been arrested in the daylight armed robbery of Helena Jewellers on Front Street on July 24. The man, in his early 20s, was arrested on Wednesday around 7:30pm on L.B. Scot road. He remains in custody as the investigation is continues.
