PHILIPSBURG--Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour VSA Emil Lee, on Wednesday, urged the public to take advantage of the free health services, health testing and screenings that will be offered at the Lion Rudy Hoeve Health and Wellness Fair that will be held on Saturday, March 30 at the St. Maarten Festival Village from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
A wide range of services will be available at the fair in relation to health and wellness. Stakeholders in the field will be present such as the Diabetes Foundation, AIDS Foundation, Windward Islands Emergency Medical Services (WIEMS), Social and Health Insurances SZV, Collective Prevention Services (CPS) and the Baby Clinic, the Alzheimer’s Foundation, Vital Health Dietitian, Be Well Be Fit Physical Therapy, Kidney Foundation, Mental Health Foundation (MHF), Sickle Cell Foundation, Helping Hands Foundation, Home Care Nursing, Fitness Desire, You Too Can Move Fitness, Vegan Association and the SXM Psychologist Foundation.
“The event is open to the public with no cost of entry and so families young and old should come out to this family event. It is a great opportunity to explore the services available on the island,” Lee said. There will be the opportunity for parents to have their children vaccinated, if they have not yet done so. Parents still needing to vaccinate their children are urged to come with their child’s vaccination booklet and have Baby Clinic nurses vaccinate their children at the fair. This will be possible between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm. Parents can also use the opportunity to get more information on other vaccinations that are available.
The Health Minister congratulated members of the St. Maarten Lions Club for their resilience and dedication in hosting the annual Lion Rudy Hoeve Health and Wellness Fair.
“I would also like to congratulate CPS, who last weekend had their annual breast cancer screening event which is a great preventative service that fits in line with the vision of the Ministry to maintain the quality of life through prevention,” Lee noted.
