Elsa Rozendal.
WILLEMSTAD--Curaçao’s MAN party reacted with astonishment to the departure of their Member of Parliament (MP) Elsa Rozendal, who resigned but left her seat to the current coalition party.
According to MAN chairman Yves Schoop, she told him the decision was made after a lot had gone wrong in the communication within the party during the past period.
Rozendal issued a statement that she was going to take some time to orient herself on a different way to serve the population as well as possible. She will use the coming holidays to think carefully about her next step.
Elsa is the daughter of late former Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles and Democratic Party (DP) stalwart Boy Rozendal. DP, currently without representation in the legislature, has been looking for a new leader going into the March election.
According to Schoop, Rozendal denied that there were already agreements to go to another party. He will take her place in Parliament.
