PHILIPSBURG--Minister of Justice Cornelius de Weever, Chief of Police Carl John and members of the management team of the Police Force of St. Maarten KPSM bade farewell to Commander of the Gendarmes in French St. Martin Sebastien Manzoni on Tuesday.

Commander Manzoni, who will be leaving the island in early August, has been working in St. Martin since 2015. Since that time, he has formed a very close working relationship with the authorities in Dutch St. Maarten.

“The working cooperation between the two sides since 2015 has seen a major improvement,” KPSM said Thursday.

As a token of appreciation, a luncheon was organized for Manzoni at Sheer restaurant on Front Street. Also, a plaque was presented to Manzoni honouring him for the work he has done and for his cooperation over the past four years.

Minister De Weever and Police Chief John thanked Manzoni for his contribution to the island and wished him much success in the future.
