Minister Plenipotentiary attending UNESCO’s 40th General Conference

THE HAGUE--Minister Plenipotentiary Jorien Wuite will be representing St. Maarten on behalf of Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports (ECYS) Wycliffe Smith at the UNESCO’s 40th General Conference in Paris, held from November 12 to 27.

  The General Conference consists of representatives of UNESCO's Member States. It occurs every two years for a period of two weeks and is attended by Member States and Associate Members, together with observers for non-Member States, intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

  Minister Smith said during the Council of Ministers’ press briefing on Wednesday he requested the Minister Plenipotentiary to attend on his behalf, where she will deliver his speech at the conference.

  Wuite will be accompanied by Secretary General for UNESCO St. Maarten Marcellia Henry.
