A full Royal Dutch Airlines KLM flight departed from St. Maarten en route to Amsterdam on Wednesday evening. The repatriation flight first stopped in Curaçao before flying to St. Maarten.
None of the passengers who came in on the flight KL738 disembarked here. All passengers onboard were European Union citizens or were residents of the Schengen area. People of other nationalities or residency were allowed on the flight but not allowed in the EU. They had to have a same-day transfer to their final non-EU destination. Announcing the flight last week, the Dutch Representation Office in St. Maarten noted that it is very unsure whether there will be any other flights from St. Maarten to the Netherlands in the coming period.
