PHILIPSBURG--The summer recess of the Parliament of St. Maarten is scheduled from July 2 to August 7, in accordance with the calendar year of the legislature.
However, due to developments surrounding the coronavirus COVID-19 and the need for Parliament to work on some “urgent matters,” it was deemed necessary to defer four weeks of the six-week summer recess to later in the year, allowing Parliament to work “on much-needed legislation and other urgent matters,” it was stated in a press release from the legislature on Sunday.
The summer recess of Parliament will officially start on Monday, July 13, and end on Friday, July 24.
