The Police Traffic Department is investigating a traffic accident which involved a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Cole Bay in the vicinity of Pineapple Pete’s on Welfare Road at approximately 7:15pm Monday. According to the investigating officer, the victim W.S. (67) did not pay proper attention to a vehicle with licence plate V-1132 travelling on Welfare Road toward Cole Bay. As a result, the victim was struck by the vehicle and suffered numerous bruises to his legs and arms. He was treated on the scene by paramedics and transported to St. Maarten Medical Center where he was admitted for observation and further medical treatment.
