Police arrest running thief

PHILIPSBURG--Police have in custody a man who tried to break into a popular bar on Back Street at approximately 1:10am Sunday.

  The Emergency Dispatch received a call of an ongoing burglary at a popular bar on Back Street. When the patrol arrived on the scene they saw that a window of the establishment was open and informed the Emergency Dispatch about the ongoing burglary.

  While on the scene, investigating officers saw a suspicious man walking away from the bar and as soon as the police officers identified themselves, he took off running toward Front Street. The officers started pursuit and were successful in catching the suspect.

  A.B. (26) was arrested on the scene and taken to the police station for further investigation. The police thank the community for calling emergency number 911 and giving correct information which led to the suspect’s arrest.
