Moisture due to a weak tropical wave passing through the local region will cause cloudy periods and brief isolated showers during this forecast period. Meanwhile, a loose surface pressure gradient will maintain light winds.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
1. Hurricane Sam was upgraded to a Category-3 Hurricane at 11:00am, with its center located about 1090 miles southeast of St. Maarten and maximum sustained winds near 120 mph and higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast over the next day or two, and Sam may become a Category-4 hurricane by Sunday, as it moves towards the west-northwest near 10 mph. On its forecast track, Hurricane Sam is predicted to pass about 275 miles northeast at its closest point to St. Maarten on Thursday. The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor this system and update the public accordingly.
2. Sub-Tropical Teresa was downgraded to a depression at 11:00am in the North Atlantic Ocean, remaining no threat to St. Maarten.
