SURFACE WINDS: 
This afternoon through Saturday midday: East southeasterly to northeasterly with a light to gentle breeze of 04 to 10 mph, becoming lighter and variable at times.

SYNOPSIS:  
A weak tropical wave will increase the probability of showers during the latter part of this forecast period. A loose pressure gradient will maintain mostly light winds across the region.

Seas are expected to remain below 5 feet before easterly swells begin to invade local waters late Saturday.

STATE OF THE SEA:  Slight          WAVES/SWELLS: 2 to 4 feet

SPECIAL FEATURES: 
At 11:00 am, the center of Hurricane Lorenzo was located about 1325 miles east of St. Maarten, with winds of 140 mph and higher gusts. Lorenzo is predicted to remain over the open Atlantic waters.
This system does not pose a threat to St. Maarten

The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to update the public accordingly.
