Boarding pass campaign at Rusty Rocket sees travellers exchange boarding passes for free Heineken beer.
SIMPSON BAY--Rusty Rocket Rum and Burger Saloon, Heineken beer distributor International Liquors & Tobacco ILTT and St. Maarten Tourism Bureau (STB) have joined forces for a “Welcome to St. Maarten” boarding pass campaign.
A billboard was erected on June 16 at Rusty Rocket announcing the new campaign in which visitors exchange their boarding pass for a free Heineken at the bar. Guests can choose between bottle or draught beer.
“It is our way of showing to the world that we’re still the Friendly Island and that SXM is back. Whether you are a returning visitor, first time guest on our island, or a local coming back home, an iced cold Heineken awaits you at the first bar you’ll see by the airport,” said James Roidis, owner of Rusty Rocket.
All boarding passes will be handled with confidentiality. All personal information will be blacked out with a marker. Boarding passes are valid for seven days after landing on St. Maarten.
“When I met with James a few weeks ago, we both fell in love with the idea of welcoming our visitors with an iced cold Heineken. We’ve always said that Heineken is the island’s original welcome drink and now we endorse this statement in the most literal way possible,” said Roel Kokkelmans, ILTT commercial manager.
“This is a creative way to also get to know your visitors, and we immediately agreed to be on board,” said Interim STB Head May-Ling Chun. “Collaboration between public- and private sector is so crucial in the tourism development of our island, especially in our marketing and public relations efforts.”
Rusty Rocket is a three-minute walk or a one-minute drive from the airport.
