Sandy Ground bridge to re-open on Monday

MARIGOT--The Collectivité informs the population and mariners that the Sandy Ground bridge will re-open again after tests carried out following the repair work on the cylinder were declared to be successful.

The first opening of the bridge (a special opening) will take place at noon Monday, March 4. However, the bridge will be closed on Tuesday, March 5, and Wednesday, March 6, (Mardi Gras and Ash Wednesday Carnival holiday).

The bridge will then re-open at regular hours starting Thursday, March 7 – at 9:00am and 5:00pm.

The first phase of work to repair the cylinder of the bridge was carried out by the Collectivité at the end of February at a cost of 22,000 euros. With this work completed the bridge is operational again. It had been out of order for several weeks.

A second phase of work to take place later in 2019 will permit a more thorough overhaul aimed at completely rehabilitating the bridge opening system. The contract to select the service provider company has just been launched.

As a reminder, the bridge hours are Monday to Saturday: 9:00am and 5:00pm for inbound and outbound traffic; closed on Sundays and public holidays. Priority for outbound vessels.

Planning can be modified according to weather conditions.
