HOPE ESTATE--When senior citizen Marie Jeffers decided to adorn her head-tie with fresh cuttings from the garden, she did not know she'd return home named the person with the most creative hat at the recent Young Achievers Summer Camp's Seniors Tea Party held in the Hope Estate Senior Citizens Recreational Centre.

Jeffers was one of a large number of seniors from St. Maarten Senior Citizen Recreational Foundation feted by the summer campers who paid homage to those who helped to build the country.

Senior Dorothey Walters' simply chic headgear was named the most elegant hat at the tea party.

It was not a women-only affair. Mr. Clifford snagged the honour of having the simplest hat at the event.

All seniors had a marvellous time and enjoyed the treat immensely, said Senior Foundation President Marva Hanson. She encouraged others in the community to contact the foundation at the centre should they be interested in supporting senior activities.
