PHILIPSBURG--Police were directed to the Over the Bank area for a dispute between a father and his son on Wednesday evening. The officers learned from the father that he and his son had gotten into a heated argument and at one point his son had pulled a firearm on him.
Police spoke to the son about the whereabouts of the firearm and he denied any and all allegations made by his father.
Acting police spokesman Inspector Rehenseley Henson said police relied on their instinct and training and searched the area where the argument had taken place. A dark gray pistol was found next to a rock in the bushes nearby.
The son was immediately arrested and taken to the police station for further questioning. The firearm was confiscated by forensic detectives for further investigation.
