PHILIPSBURG--The country’s active COVID-19 cases remained at 32 on Sunday, May 16.
Five positive COVID-19 cases and two recoveries were reported as of Saturday. On Friday, five persons tested positive for COVID-19 and eight recoveries were reported. No COVID-19 updates were provided on Sunday.
The total number of confirmed cases remains at 2,282.
Collective Prevention Services (CPS) is monitoring 29 persons in home isolation. Three patients are hospitalised at St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC). The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at 27.
There are 41 persons in quarantine based on contact-tracing investigations carried out by CPS of persons who may have been in contact with any of the active cases.
The number of persons recovered since the first case surfaced in St. Maarten is 2,223.
The Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor VSA Airport Health Team in collaboration with Health Care Laboratory St. Maarten (HCLS) has tested 2,812 travellers arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA), while CPS has tested 26,880 persons throughout the community.
