Statia bar, restaurant reopens at Franklin D. Roosevelt Airport

ST. EUSTATIUS--Monday morning at 6:30, Statia Bar and Restaurant reopened at Franklin Delano Roosevelt Airport after having been closed for months.

The airport bar and restaurant was closed by Government in 2016 due to a high outstanding balance. The renovated bar area is considered an addition to the airport of

St. Eustatius.

The new operator of the Airport Bar and Restaurant is Gregory Pieters, who has been residing on St. Eustatius for many years. He is the owner of Dutch Plumping at the Mall in Chapel Piece. He served on the Harbour Committee, and had a business named Fun Shop many years ago.

He said his bar is stocked with goodies that most persons love. Staff members Marjory Gonzales, Elaine Sosse and an administration student at Gwendoline Van Putten School are all smiles and ready to serve visitors and guests.

Waiting for the departure of his flight, Island Councilman Clyde van Putten stopped by to extend his congratulations to Pieters on his new venture.
