Smoke continued to rise from the dump in Philipsburg on Monday following Sunday morning’s fire. Fire fighters have been battling the blaze and worked throughout the night trying to get the situation under control.
Persons living downwind are still advised not to go outside and to stay clear of the area. The Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure VROMI and the company contracted to maintain the landfill are assisting the Fire Department.
