STUCO to ration water, schedule power outages

  1. EUSTATIUS--St. Eustatius Utility Company STUCO announced that it would be enacting water rationing on the island starting on Wednesday, April 15, at 8:00pm. Water will only be available to the company’s customers from 5:00 to 8:00am and again from 5:00 to 8:00pm until further notice.

STUCO has had a number of leaks over the past days and weeks. Leaks have been repaired in the Concordia, Lower Town and the White Hook areas, just to name a few. The rationing of water is to allow the water storage tanks to return to safe levels to prevent running out of water.

The company also made it known that the power will be out at Whitewall (from Pigeon Road to the end of Whitewall) on Thursday, April 16, from 3:30 to 6:30pm. This road will be blocked and therefore motorists are being asked to use a detour via Sandpiper Bird Road.

Further power outages will take place on the Road to English Quarter and from Big Stone to Knippenga Estate on Saturday, April 18, from 8:00am to 2:00pm. The road will also be blocked from Big Stone to the intersection at Miriam C. Schmidt Botanical Garden and the road to Lynch (Halfway Path).

STUCO extended its apologies for any inconveniences this may cause to the community.
