MARIGOT--SXM Festival Association recently donated a cheque for 15,000 euros to the Academy of Guadeloupe to purchase sports materials specifically for associations in St. Martin.
The presentation was made at the Mercure Hotel in the presence of Moustafa Fourar, Recteur of the Guadeloupe Academy, Academic Inspector and Deputy Academic Director of the National Education Services of St. Barthélemy and St. Martin Michel Sanz, Inspector of the Northern Islands district Dominique Boyer, the heads of schools and the President of the primary education sports union USEP of the Northern Islands.
Following Hurricane Irma, the SXM Festival Association received many donations to help rebuild St. Martin. Touched by the images of the catastrophe, friends of this association throughout the world wanted to help St. Martin.
This association has chosen to direct its action to the benefit of the children of the island by financing sports equipment which will be available to all schools, collèges and lycées of St. Martin.
The money will directly finance kayaks and various orienteering projects within the marine educational sector, archery and rollerblading via the association Les Tigres d'Orléans, USEP Association of the school Clair Saint-Maximin located in Quartier d'Orléans.
SXM Festival Association managers and the festival director took advantage of this meeting to express their strong desire to make their action sustainable by subsequently funding other environmental and educational projects in partnership with National Education.
Moustafa Fourar particularly, appreciated this initiative and strongly encouraged the continuation of similar actions; he took the opportunity to congratulate the volunteers of this association and warmly thanked the generous donors.
