Three arrests made for fake passports

AIRPORT--Immigration and police officials arrested three Dominican Republic nationals at Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) on Friday, December 7, and Saturday, December 8, because they were in possession of fake passports.

Authorities arrested a Dominican Republic national A.S.F.N. on Friday because the person was attempting to leave St. Maarten on a fake Guatemalan passport. The passenger’s intended final destination was Paris, France.

Two other Dominican Republic nationals, a woman D.R.P.A.I. and a man S.E.A.A., were arrested on Saturday for travelling to St. Maarten on fake passports. The woman was holding a falsified Costa Rican passport, and the man had a fake Guatemalan passport. Both travellers arrived on a Caribbean Airlines flight from Port of Spain, Trinidad.

According to police, it is unclear whether I. and A. were travelling together, but police suspect they were. Police also suspect that St. Maarten was not their final destination, despite the fact that the two did not have tickets for any other destination.

All three persons were handed over to the Police Alpha Team for further investigation. The Daily Herald understands that they are currently being processed for deportation.
