Representatives of Saint Martin United Taxi Association (SMUTA) were present to assist promotion of the destination in Guadeloupe at the St. Martin stand.
MARIGOT--Run by St. Martin Tourism Office, St. Maarten Tourist Bureau and several of the island's economic players on the island, a boutique in the colours of the Milénis shopping centre in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe, was set up on Friday and Saturday, May 10 and 11.
The main aim of the operation was to offer visitors to the stand preferential offers for their next holiday and to provide them with information to help them plan their holidays in St. Martin. This is in line with St. Martin Tourism Office's objective of creating well-balanced holidays by setting up operations like this one before the middle and low seasons.
A warm atmosphere greeted customers at the second-largest shopping centre in Guadeloupe. Whether they were looking to get away from it all or simply curious to discover St. Martin, visitors to Milénis couldn't miss the promotion of the “Friendly Island” by a whole delegation from St. Martin.
This pop-up store benefited from the high foot traffic that usually prevails at weekends in this strategic shopping area near the airport. The long bank holiday weekends in May and the school holidays in July and August are of particular benefit to regional customers, and St. Martin was able to shine, offering holidays based on current promotional offers.
To run this temporary boutique, the tourist office put together a delegation comprising Aïda Weinum (Director), Priscillia Wachter (Deputy General Manager),Néilleda Désir (Local and Regional Market Promotion Officer), Narissa Page (in charge of local and regional market promotion), and Roxane Fleury (Communications Officer).
The pop-up store was also attended by the Dutch St. Maarten Tourist Bureau, represented by Angela Brown (St. Maarten’s representative agency). Numerous professionals accompanied the tourism authorities to showcase their products and establishments, including accommodations with Grand Case Beach Club, Soualiga Homes, Carl’s Unique Inn and Domaine Anse Marcel, who were able to take bookings.
Also present were transport companies with Saint-Martin United Taxi Association (SMUTA) and Air Antilles; event agencies Kalaboom Events (promotion of the Oualichi Festival) and SXM Loves Kizomba.
Numerous interviews were conducted with local media such as RCI, Canal 10, MFM Radio, France Antilles, Yootle and Fusion TV.
A competition launched on RCI resulted in one lucky winner of a three-day trip to St. Martin for two including the Air Caraïbes flights and two nights' breakfast at Grand Case Beach Club.
For the Tourism Office of St. Martin, the pop-up stores regularly held in in Guadeloupe and Martinique are promotional events designed to target regional customers at key times of the season.
