Travel within St. Martin regulated from today

MARIGOT—In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron on Monday, travel or movements within the territories of St. Martin and St. Barths are prohibited as part of reinforced measures to prevent spread of the Covid-19 virus and save lives.

  As of midday Tuesday and until March 31, 2020, travel and movement within the two French territories is prohibited except in the following cases and only on condition that you have a personal exemption certificate: 

  Going to your workplace if teleworking from home is not possible; Shopping for basic necessities in nearby shops authorized to remain open; Going to your doctor; Travelling for childcare or to help vulnerable people with preventative hygiene measures; Taking the air or exercise , particularly with your children, only as an individual and around your home and not in the company of other people.

  The personal exemption certificate is to be completed directly by the individual who wishes to leave. It can be downloaded from the website and Facebook page of the Préfecture of St. Barthélemy and St. Martin. People who do not have a printer can copy this certificate by hand. This document must be filled in again for each outing. Failure to comply with these rules is currently punishable by a fine of 38 euros.

  Citizens are asked to stay at home. Travel should be kept to a strict minimum and only if in possession with the personal waiver as explained above. As a reminder, all gatherings are prohibited. Family and/or friendly celebrations (baptism, wedding, birthday), picnics, group activities are forbidden. Funeral services however are permitted.

  Remember the rules:  wash your hands regularly, cough and sneeze into his elbow, use disposable tissues, greet without shaking hands, kissing and hugging.  Call hotline 15 if you suspect you have symptoms and stay home. Wear a mask only if you are sick.
