Will to overcome

Surviving not just to live another day, but to give of yourself to build a better community and world is the goal of Subha Rajan Tampi, a survivor of the civil war in the West African country of Liberia.

Tampi spent a few days on St. Maarten last week and among her stops was an inspirational talk in the Coffee Lounge about the hurdles and tragedies she faced and how her clothing herself in a positive outlook has seen her through to better times. To the Hurricane Irma-struck population of St. Maarten, Tampi’s message is thus: “You have gone through tough times, but God is kind … Make adversity into a virtue. Help where you can.” Asked how she managed through the trials, she said, “My thoughts were ‘I will not give up’ and ‘never say die.’”
