Winair stepping out of CN-Express agreement

SABA/ST. EUSTATIUS--The direct flight connection between Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba CN-Express is experiencing delays. The connection between the three islands of the Caribbean Netherlands would originally become operational early January. The flights would be operated by Windward Islands Airways International Winair.

The Ministries of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations (BZK) and Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W), in cooperation with Government Service Caribbean Netherlands RCN, jointly wanted to establish a direct air connection between Bonaire and Statia and from Statia to Saba.

Although there initially was a principle agreement between parties, Winair eventually backed out of the agreement, which made it impossible to realize the air connection.

The Ministries are now looking at possible other solutions, it was stated Tuesday in a statement issued by RCN.
