PHILIPSBURG--The winners of Collective Prevention Services’ (CPS’) fourth breastfeeding photo competition were presented with their prizes during a ceremony on September 27.

The first-place prize went to Jessica Challenger; second-place to Chalmarie Vlaun; third-place to Orianda Hoendervangers and a complimentary prize went to Dahshiki Jones.

There was a total of seven entries in the competition. The goal of the competition was to enhance the beauty surrounding breastfeeding, and to encourage mothers and enlighten them about the importance of breastfeeding.

CPS thanked sponsors who donated prizes including Artistic Drive, Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, Holland House Beach Hotel, Indulgence by the Sea and Boolchands/Pandora.

CPS also thanked judges Loic Bryan, Charmaine Wilson and Regina Janga as well as the staff of CPS.

World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) and World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action’s (WABA’s) annual breastfeeding week was held from August 1 to 7.

The 2019 theme of World Breastfeeding Week was “Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding”. This international theme was chosen to be inclusive of all types of parents in today’s world with the focus on supporting both parents to be empowered, which is vital in order to realize their breastfeeding goals.

CPS is an executing department of the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour VSA.
