PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad--After several hours of searching a forested area at Nonpariel Road off Fishing Pond Road in Sangre Grande on Monday, a joint army-police patrol are no closer to finding 23-year-old Andrea Bharatt.

Early on Monday morning, Eastern Division Police combed the heavily forested area with the help of the army and tracker dogs, in the hopes of finding clues that would lead them to Andrea’s whereabouts.

A senior police official revealed to Guardian Media that they were unable to find anything that could lead them to her, or any semblance of evidence that she had actually been in that area.

Andrea Bharatt was kidnapped last Friday, January 29, after entering a taxi with her co-worker. After dropping her female co-worker off, the men in the vehicle allegedly kidnapped the Arima Magistrate clerk, who has not been seen since.

On Friday night, when her father had finally gotten through to Andrea’s cell phone, one of the alleged kidnappers told him that he “wanted some money” or he would “cut off her ears and send them” to him.

Four men have since been detained in East Trinidad for questioning in relation to Andrea’s disappearance. ~ Trinidad and Tobago Guardian ~
