The UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw has been made: Bayern München v Real Madrid, Juventus v Barcelona, Atlético Madrid v Leicester and Borussia Dortmund v Monaco.
* Real Madrid and Bayern, who have 16 titles between them, pitted together
* Juventus and Barcelona meet in repeat of 2014/15 final
* Debutants Leicester take on last season's runners-up Atlético
* Dortmund and Monaco face each other for the first time
All 22 of Madrid-Bayern's competitive games have come in the European Cup, Madrid winning nine and Bayern 11. Madrid have won their last three matches against Bayern, including the 2013/14 semi-finals. Madrid were then coached by current Bayern trainer Carlo Ancelotti. Madrid won 4-0 in Munich in the second leg of that tie.
Bayern and Madrid have met in ten knockout ties and won five apiece. The teams met in a friendly in New Jersey in August, Danilo scoring the only goal. Toni Kroos and Xabi Alonso will be playing against former clubs.
Juventus and Barcelona met in the 2015 final in Berlin, Barça winning 3-1. Ivan Rakitić (4), Luis Suárez (68) and Neymar (90+7) scored for Barcelona, Álvaro Morata (55) for Juve. They have had seven competitive meetings, Barcelona winning three to Juve's two. The teams met in the 2002/03 last eight: it was 1-1 in Turin. This tie will mark a return to the Camp Nou for Juve full-back Dani Alves.
Two of Leicester's three previous European campaigns were ended by Atlético. The Spanish side won 3-1 on aggregate in the 1961/62 European Cup Winners' Cup first round. They also prevailed (2-1 at home and 2-0 away) in the 1997/98 UEFA Cup first round. Atlético have never lost at home to English opposition.
Dortmund and Monaco have never met before in a competitive fixture. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made 23 loan appearances for Monaco in 2010/11, scoring twice. Dortmund's overall record against French clubs is W6 D5 L5; only one of those defeats was at home.
