MARIGOT--Close to 200 runners and walkers in four categories participated in the third edition of the Crédit Mutuel Trail Run organised by Association Dream of Trails on Sunday, April 13.
Participants had the choice of a 30K trail run (for runners experienced in mountainous terrain), a 17 K distance for intermediates and a 7K Run and 7K Walk.
The 30K and 17K were the earliest categories to start at 5:30am, 6:30am followed by the 7K run and walk at 7:00am from the end of the breakwater at Marina Fort Louis. All the finishes were in the Galisbay car park.
Still fresh from participating in the Martinique triathlon a week ago, SXM Tri Academie’s Grégory Pigeon, finished the arduous, hilly 30km race first in 3:04:36 at an average speed of 9.75 km/h. Second place went to Mathieu de Fossey (SXtreme Runners) in 3:22:11, and third place to Timm Dunker in 3:34:13.
Just 15 runners took on the 30K race. First female to finish was Sabrina Douglas, 13th overall.
The 17K race with 63 entries was won by Jordan Surriray (SXM Tri Academie) in 2:04:03. Raydon Mozard (Inter-generation runners was second and Ianis Bourley (Inter-generation runners was third.
Marcel de Wit from SXM Roadrunners placed 10th. The first female to finish was Nolwenn Rousseau, sixth overall.
The 7K Run with 59 entries was won by Fabien Roudil, Julien Chabeuf second and Alain Boucaud third. Rene Arnell won the 7K walk which attracted 57 participants.
Some eight SXM Tri Academie athletes participated in the Martinique International Triathlon in Sainte Luce on Sunday, April 6. Gabriel Pertusot won the amateur category, finishing 5th overall on a particularly demanding course in 4hours 31 minutes.
Grégory Pigeon took third place in the amateur category (8th overall) in 4 hours 37, while Max Kruszewska completed the trio with a 5th place in the amateur category (10th overall) in 4 hours 50.
