MARIGOT—The soccer training camp that took place in the Thelbert Carti Stadium in French Quarter from August 2-6 was deemed a great success and attracted some 75 youngsters.
The camp was organised by the Saint-Martin Football League in collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation of the French West Indies.
A partnership agreement had previously been signed between the Football League and the Real Madrid Foundation at the Hommage Hotel and Residences, the objective of which was to organise a training camp supervised by coaches from Real Madrid to learn the techniques and philosophy of one of the biggest soccer clubs in the world. Thanks to a contribution from the Collectivité, some 50 children out of the 75 were able to participate.
Taking part in the camp were the U7, U10, and U13 categories. Matthieu Mendy was declared the winner of the training camp and elected captain of the selection that will participate in the Real Madrid World Tournament of the Foundation in Madrid.
During the closing ceremony, the winners of the different categories were also congratulated; Frank Gendrey (coach), Nolan Leconte (U7 category), Clair Ramona (U10 category) and Chloé Cayaci (U13 category).
