Annual Ennia Kids Bicycle Race at Port de Plaisance on Sunday

PORT DE PLAISANCE --Children ages three to 13 can register now for the annual Ennia Kids Bicycle race that will be held Sunday at Port de Plaisance in Cole Bay.

Registration is free at any of the Tri-Sport shops.  All participants will receive a medal and a T-Shirt.
The action takes place at Port de Plaisance.  The race  will be divided into age groups of 3 to 5, 6 to 7, 8 to 9, 10 to 11 and 12 to 13 years old. The race will be along a winding track that will be set up on the grassy field as you enter the Port de Plaisance premises.
The riders  will be required to compete in two short races, and while waiting for their second start, they can participate in fun bicycle games like the Slow Race, the Balance Beam and  the Newspaper Toss.
“The concept is to encourage the children to move and to become comfortable with their bicycles and equipment in a fun, uncompetitive environment,” said  Susy Piscione, one of the organizers from Tri-Sport. “I myself have two children, one of whom is very competitive and enjoys racing, and the other who would prefer to have nothing to do with competing, so they have motivated us to create “races” that do not put pressure on the kids to win, merely to participate for the joy of exercising.”
Besides the games, there will also be a Helmet Fitting Booth, and a Bicycle Check Up area..
