Baseball to be introduced to kids by SXM Sport Movement

MARIGOT—Baseball is the latest sport to be introduced to children, French side-based association SXM Sport Movement announced.

In addition to futsal, basketball, volleyball and softball, the association has just created a baseball section for young people aged 7 to 13-14. This discipline is experiencing a resurgence of interest among youngsters in St. Martin which has motivated the association's coaches to encourage children interested in this sport.
Every Sunday morning, from 9:00am to 11.30 am, training sessions take place on the field of the Jean-Louis Vanterpool Stadium, under the guidance of Rodrigo "Yigui" Santana, who teaches the basics of the game, but also discipline and fair play.
As with any setting up of a young players' section in a club, the association has to face expenses to equip the young players with equipment adapted to their age, so any support from sponsors is welcome.
During the carnival holidays, baseball discovery sessions will take place at the Jean-Louis Vanterpool Stadium. For more information, please contact Yigui Santana on (0690) 22. 29. 24, or President of SXM Sport Movement, Julius Richardson, on (0690) 10. 35. 03.
SXM Sport Movement is an association involved in fighting exclusion and delinquency of young people in St. Martin and promotes the integration of young people from different communities through sport.
