CrossFitSXM burping and snatching toward Regionals

CAY HILL--CrossFitSXM is buzzing with activity.  There are men and women jumping up and off boxes, snatching 50 or 35 pound dumbbells off the floor and hoisting them in the air over their head they in-between they appear to trying to cross a squat thrust with a push up and calling it a burpee.

Some 36 athletes are racing a 20 minute clock in an effort to complete 150 snatches and 75 burpees. It is all a part of the five week long CrossFit Open.
The CrossFit Open is a three stage competition. The first is a five-week five –workout competition via the internet.  Workouts are released on a Thursday and athletes have until Monday to do the workouts and submit their time.
The top scores from each region advance to the second round.
The athletes from two to three regions are grouped together to compete in a three day live competition starting in May with the top five moving on.
The final will be held in August. Each year the competition changes, so the athletes do not know what challenges they will have. The winners are crowned Fittest on Earth.
Work out one was released Thursday. Among the CrossFitSXM athletes competing in stage one were Alan Schet and Cameron Hyman.
Both had just returned from a trip to Curacao to train with another CrossFit gym.
“I change of scenery is always nice said Schet. “We knows those guys and we knew their training level. The trip allows us to see not only how they are progressing but how we are doing to.”
The trip was sponsored by Loumi Adminstrative represented by Michelette Boasman, Pine Apple Pete and Sushitto, represented by Pierre Ferland.
Schet tried the workout Thursday. “It is demanding and different, said Schet.
He would not confide his time but only said he would do the work out again as he is sure he could improve on his mark.
As we watched two athletes go thru the work out one finished in 17 minutes and the other ran out of gas.
CrossFit is not just about lifting weights. We stress total fitness cardio, gymnastic even swimming and running said
The goal of CrossFitSXM is to have some reach the regionals within two years.
