COLE BAY— Two swimmers combined for six new team records at the Carib Swim Team’s annual Sweetheart Classic on Valentine’s Day, February 14. The meet was sponsored by Ballerina Jewelers. Taffi Illis (19 years) achieved new marks for 200 freestyle and 50 breaststroke, while Matias Piazza (13 years) achieved new marks in 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly and 400 IM.
Due to the pandemic, it was a smaller, intrasquad meet this year. However, spirits were high, as many new personal best times were achieved by the 32 swimmers in attendance.
Other event winners were Louise Creusot (12 years), Nikki Grandner (13 years), Joey Schwartz (11 years), Daan Vinke (10 years), Caithlyn Challenger (8 years), Lucas Berman (7 years), Aiyana Bourne (10 years), Rozaria Rumnit (12 years), Al-Sheenia Wilson (13 years), Chris deWilde (10 years), Nihal Chugani (12 years), Anna deWilde (5 years), Darina Smirnova (8 years), Adaya Bourne (13 years), Luuk Vinke (8 years), Adriaan Coppelmans (11 years), Quentin Guyenot (13 years), Diego Ramos (15 years), Shaniqua Schladt (12 years), Patrick Szabo (9 years), Nicolas Piazza (11 years), Bengt Acosta (8 years), Emma Szabo (10 years), Abbi Illis (15 years), Arianna Lont (14 years), and Alcea Boudou (13 years).
Carib Swim Team’s next home competition is scheduled for March 14.
