Island Water World wins in Anguilla

ANGUILLA--Team Island Water World 1 and 2 stepped up on the podium at the
annual Anguilla Regatta over the weekend.


Team Island Water World finished the weekend racing in first place and team two placed third.
“This year’s regatta was specially dedicated to the rebuilding of the Anguilla Yacht Club after the damage of Hurricane Irma and to the Anguilla youth sailing program,” said skipper Frits Bus from IWW 1.
Racing began Friday afternoon in Simpson Bay and set course for Anguilla.
In racing class Team IWW 1, took a flying lead in the downwind stretch to the West Point only to abandon the race due to a broken forestay.
Island Water World 2 took over the lead only to be caught just before the finish by Wannabee, Team Kick them Jenny, and Solstice.
Moondance with Garth Steyn was the winner in cruising class.
Saturday, the yachts sailed short races in perfect conditions around Sandy Island in front of Road Bay. All races where won by Team IWW 1,
which just the day before, had to be towed into port by Quality Time.
Sunday featured a long-distance race in strong breeze also won by Team IWW 1 while Team IWW 2 finished second securing third overall with Solstice second.
Moondance won cruising class.
All winners were presented with magnums of Laurent Perrier, the sponsor of the event.
