GRAND CASE--Sunday’s Saint-Martin Triathlon organised by SXM Tri Académie and hosted by Grand Case Beach Club, attracted 80 athletes, from Saint-Martin, St. Maarten, St. Barths and Guadeloupe. Olivier Noglotte (51), no stranger to the island having competed in many triathlons, most notably the Boardwalk Triathlon which he dominated for a few years, won the Olympic distance in a time of 2:12:36 ahead of Rémy Grange (TTK) 2:13: 20 in and Gabriel Pertusot (SXM Tri Académie) 2:14:06 in third.
Although he was up with the leaders on the bike segment, SXM Tri Académie’s Gregoire Pigeon (42) uncharacteristically fell off the pace and finished fourth in the overall in a time of 2:16:06. First out of the water for the Olympic distance was Théo Estasse from Saint-Barthelemy. In the women’s Olympic race, it was Aisha Augusty (L'Armada) in 2: 40: 02, Aude Vermillard from Saint-Barthélemy 2:51:34 in second place and Olivia Laurens Bertraux in third place in 2:57:03.
The Sprint distance (750metre swim, 20K bike, and 5K run) was by Boris Villemin (SXM Tri Academie) in 1:16:31, second place went to Xavier Dias 1:17:27 (SXtreme runners) and third place to Julien Chabeuf 1:18:54 (SXtreme runners) The women’s Sprint distance was won by Célia Daizey (1: 32: 20) ahead of IGR’s Anna Gérard (1:34:22) and Melina Bruneau from Sxm Tri Académie in 1:35:08. There were nine participants in the 50 plus category, including Noglotte. The eldest were Edgar Gronvovius and Frederick Houillez, both 61. The Team category saw five teams competing,
