AIRPORT--Maudienne Profas made an emotional return to St. Maarten on Monday after a great achievement in the Caribbean Grand Prix Pro Qualifier in Bermuda on March 26 where she won four medals at her first event of 2022.
She was welcomed at the airport by Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Rodolphe Samuel, Head of the St. Maarten Sports Department Jonelle Richardson, and board members, coaches and athletes from St. Maarten Body Building and Fitness Association (SMBBFA).
Profas, who was competing against six athletes in each category, won first place and overall winner in the Women's physique Open class. She is now a new International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) Pro Women's physique overall winner coming home with a 2nd place medal in bodybuilding, 1st place in Master physique over 35plus, and 1st place in Master bodybuilding over 35 plus.
SMBBF President Martin Wilson said her success is testament to her discipline and dedication.
“A lot of sleepless nights and days. Maudienne is a very accurate person in what she does,” said Wilson referring to her training. “She believes in her sport and always pursues her goals. She is very inspirational and loves the sport, in fact she eats, drinks and sleeps the sport. Discipline and integrity in the sport is her first priority. I’m very happy for her.”
Wilson added he hopes she will continue to inspire more athletes from St. Maarten.
“Once you have your Pro Card you really need to go out of St. Maarten so I do expect her to do another event before the end of the year. Competing here is below Pro level.”
Joining the Minister in congratulating Profas were SMBBF Secretary Minerva Romney, Federation Coach Yvonne Mukhi, and athlete Burnargis Browne.
