MULLET BAY—The team of James Park, Arhan Baharani, Adine Lanneluc and Alcea Boudou won the St. Maarten Golf Association’s annual Santa Scramble.
After 18 holes of stroke play the team carded a total score of 59 low net. This charity event was enjoyed by 17 teams of four players each team. It was a great sight on Saturday, December 9 on the Mullet Bay Golf Course with 68 golfers scattered over the course in decorated carts, wearing Santa hats and dressed in colorful Santa outfits. Second prize was won by the team of Herve Thibaudeau, Britta Devaux, Jenny Marzi and Teva Marzi – with a total score of 61. Third prize was taken by the team of Marci McCormick, Justen Barrett, Johathan Schaede and Bradley Spernak – with a score of also 61 low net but they had a lower average handicap. After the tournament, all players gathered at La Tortuga Restaurant in Maho, where the awards ceremony and raffle as well as auction was held. The St. Maarten Golf Association used this opportunity to thank all the sponsors from the St Maarten Open Golf Tournament and the Santa Scramble Tournament, as proceeds are generated to give out annual donations. This year’s recipients were: Special Olympics, No Kidding with our Kids Foundation, LAB Sprots Academy and Sxm Junior Golf Over the past 10 years SMGA has donated US$ 94,100.00 to worthy organizations. SMGA also awarded a special plaque to Mark Hanauer for his dedicated service to the Board of SMGA for over 20 years. The St. Maarten Golf Association is a non-profit organization that welcomes all beginning and experienced golfs, tourists and St Maarten/St Martin Residents alike to become members. Every month the association organizes Scramble matches, Night Golf tournaments, as well as the St. Maarten Open in April.
